Amelia R. Brett is a senior associate with Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky. Ms. Brett’s practice focuses on representing both for-profit and not-for-profit businesses in a full spectrum of matters ranging from business acquisitions and sales, corporate formations, drafting and negotiating contracts, day-to-day  operations and long term planning, and real estate transactions including sales, acquisitions, leasing and financing.

Ms. Brett draws on her years of experience in the management of her family’s growing business to skillfully guide clients through the legal matters facing business and real estate owners. Ms. Brett recognizes the importance of having skillful and trusted counsel to handle legal matters in order to allow business and real estate owners to focus on what’s most important: the operation, growth and success of their business or real estate venture.

Ms. Brett has extensive experience in representing not-for-profit entities in a full range of matters, including formations, obtaining federal tax exemptions, mergers, and corporate governance. Through this work, Ms. Brett has developed a niche expertise in representing public charter schools.

Prior to joining Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky, Ms. Brett attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. While in law school Ms. Brett worked with the Commercial Law Development Program of the U.S. Commerce Department to teach arbitration practice and international commercial law to students from universities in the Middle East and North Africa, and assisted these students in an international arbitration competition in Vienna, Austria.

Ms. Brett has the privilege of serving as a Board Member of the Waldorf School of Pittsburgh and as a Board Member of Sisters Place, a supportive housing community committed to assisting single parent families who are homeless in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
