Julie I. Kline

Julie Kline is a shareholder and Vice President of Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky. She also serves as chair of the Business Services Group in the firm’s Pittsburgh office. Ms. Kline came to the firm in 2015 with experience advising start-ups to mature companies and their owners on corporate and real estate transactions, as well as business succession and estate planning matters.

With a solid background in finance and the law, she has advised companies and their owners on all facets of their business interests including mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations, real estate transactions, including sales, acquisition, leasing and financing, employment, business succession planning, estate planning and wealth transfer matters, and non-profits and foundations.

Clients appreciate her strong focus on, and knowledge of, their financial status and goals, and her ability to act as an outside general counsel to advise them on a wide range of legal and business issues.

Ms. Kline is Vice President of the Board of Directors of The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center, and has served as a volunteer on advisory panels of women-owned businesses through PowerLink, an organization dedicated to the growth of women entrepreneurs in the Pittsburgh region. When not practicing law, she enjoys spending time with her husband, her dog, and her golf clubs.

  • Represented founder and company in the sale of an internet analytics business in excess of $25M.
  • Represented various companies, as outside general counsel including manufacturers, national consulting companies, distributors, and industrial suppliers.
  • Represented office supply company in the sale of its business to a national office supply chain.
  • Successfully represented various business and business owners in the sale of their businesses.
  • Represented client in the acquisition and CMBS financing in various transactions in the accumulation of an 18 building, multi-state office building portfolio with a total value of over $150M and over 1,140,000sf of office space.
  • Represented various family owned businesses in business succession matters, including the transition of the business to the next generation.
  • Represented real estate investor client in an $8M, 180 multi-family unit apartment complex purchase and acquisition financing.
  • Represented a real estate client in the $10M office building and parking garage purchase.
  • Represented client in the acquisition, construction, development, financing, and leasing of a 36,000sf office building.
  • Represented landlord client in leasing matters for an aggregate 1,000,000sf office portfolio.
  • Represented numerous real estate clients in leasing, acquisition, finance, and development of office buildings.
  • Represented real estate client in multiple private placements of securities in real estate investment limited partnerships in excess of $51.9M of equity raises.
  • Represented the selling group in a $10M sale of a national software consulting firm.
  • Represented the purchasers of a $3M regional construction firm.
  • Successfully represented the selling group of majority interest in a $12M real estate partnership development.
  • Succession represented various restaurant owners in acquisition, sale, and leasing of businesses.
  • Successfully represented client in the leasing of a newly constructed 36,000sf office building.
  • Represented landlord client in the leasing of a seven (7) building office complex.
  • Represented numerous shareholders/business owners in business, divorce, or shareholder dispute matters.
